Netflix needs to step up and open up their "Instant Watch" / "Watch Now" feature to the wider world of operating systems and web browsers, or lose those customers to other services.
If you're a Mac OS X user, a Firefox user, a Safari user, a Linux user, a FreeBSD user, a Solaris user, or any of the many perfectly capable operating systems and web browsers on which you could be using "Watch Now" (if only Netflix was brave enough to support open standards), sign this pledge, cancel your Netflix account on August 9th, 2008, and make sure to let Netflix know why!
- request that half of the people coming to my son's next birthday party give to a charity of my selection rather than bring a present.

I probably didn't set the deadline far enough in the future. I set it to the date of this year's Linux Picnic (www.linuxpicnic.org).
As I posted in another comment on the Netflix blog on Friday, I've already canceled my Netflix account. I canceled it early after getting pissed off after reading out about this:
